The whole Xiaomi-Community is currently waiting for the new MIUI 11 firmware to be released. Unlike other chines brands such as Oppo or Huawei, Xiaomi does not tie its major firmware upgrades to the Google Android update-cycles. That brings the advantage of shipping even older phones running Android 7,8 or 9 with the latest MIUI 11 firmware.
Xiaomi announced the new firmware in early 2019 with features like a system-wide dark mode or ultra power saving mode and we have already seen some of them in latest MIUI 10 versions. So we expect the new firmware to have even more innovative features then the ones they have already rolled out.
Fortunately for us, Xiaomi accidentally rolled out MIUI 11 for a handful of devices, including the Redmi K20 Pro, Mi Mix 2S, and Mi 6, giving us an early look at Xiaomi’s next Android release.
MIUI 11 – New Features
Just as mentioned earlier, Xiaomi has already rolled out some of the announced new features. Other than that, we can expect the following from MIUI 11!
- Cross-Device Filesharing (read more)
- Allways On Display with Kaleidoscope-style color changing
- New “Dynamic Sounds” Feature
- Xiaomi Community app
- New redesigned File Manager (read more)
- Dark Mode Scheduler
- Quick Reply for messaging Apps
One of the screenshots shows off the new design in more system apps, and interestingly, there’s a reference to the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G. The motto is “Empowering the productive,” and the design uses a lot of empty white space and big, bold text throughout.
Xiaomi currently stopped the release for MIUI 10 ROMs, so we might see the new firmware very soon.
